Gung Hay Fat Choy
I'm just going to say it.

I hate today.
I hate Valentines. I hate the intense pressure to LOVE today. I hate feeling like something's wrong with me if no one sends me a card or gives me chocolate or whatever.
Which is SO stupid.
But yes.
I hate today.

Stupid Hallmark Holiday.
Okay, you know my sad obsession...lol. But y'all have to watch this...it's too funny.

The internet gods hate me. For some reason, I can't dl the Justin video properly. When I try to play it, it's very choppy - the sound mostly. So I guess I'll have to wait until it makes it to Youtube. It looks cute though, what I could see. I mean, I can SEE it mostly, it's just that the sound is so badly chopped up that you can't really get anything out of it. Ah well. It'll make it even sweeter.
OH [profile] timberho I didn't leave abruptly - well, not at my choice. As I was saying goodbye - my cable crashed!! Just so you know I didn't abandon you!!
Work was weird today - I swear every nutjob in the town came in.  Plus, it was my first day working with Cathy, who was not her usual fun self. Understandably so, as she does have a WEE bit of stress in her life. But she's not great at dealing with it, and tends to take it out on everyone around her. Which was me today. She just wants to get the chemo going so that it's DONE and she can get her life back. Which, yes I understand. But I miss old Cathy. Sigh. More and more lately, I just want to find a new job. It's to the point that I like one of the people I work with. Fortunately she's a doll, but the rest of the time, it gets old and annoying. I'm tired of being shoved out and shut out just because one person thinks of me as a threat. You know what? We both have our strengths, and they're very different. We make a good team, if you'd get your head out of your ass long enough to see that. And she's using the other pharmacist to pick on me about stupid things. And again, pissing me off. For what they pay me - it's so not worth it. Plus, the only shifts I get decent wages on are also every Saturday. And I need to stop whining.
I need a vacation.
Good night.
Hey guys. A dear friend and one of the pharmacists I work with was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday. They'd found a mass on her last mammogram just before Christmas, did a needle biopsy and it came back negative. The doctor, however was unconvinced. He had a 'feeling' about it and encouraged her to have a larger section taken from the mass and biopsied. Which she did just before Xmas. Yesterday, she got the call. On the plus side, I am so grateful he wouldn't let it go. How awful if the cancer had begun to spread, all the while we were thinking it was harmless. She goes in for a mastectomy Friday, then we'll hear how things will proceed from there.
Send her all the positive thoughts and prayers you can, please. Her name is Cathy and she's a very cool lady.
I hate to say anything in case I jinx it, but one bright spot in my life lately has been my hockey boys. They're finally clicking and have come back from the Christmas break as a solidified team. Luongo has found his rhythm and is a real part of the team. Everyone except Rory Fitzpatrick has at least one goal, which is funny only if you've been following the vote Pedro  Rory entertainment that has been going on. We've won 5 in a row and last night's was the hardest fought of all. But we're digging deep and finding a way. Trevor's been given more respect and more responsibility and is really shining. It's great to see a coach who isn't a wooden face behind the bench too, I love when something happens and they show the bench and Vigenault is laughing like one of his kids just did something cute. Which sounds odd, but captures the whole mood. He was laughing after Ryan's goal in the shoot out last night, and well he should. When you've played a hard, physical game the night before, had to get on a plane and fly home to a team that was well rested and waiting for us, and then have to dig deep to find a way to even play, they make ME proud. And I love Luongo's spirit lately. Everyone's spirit.

*g*
Love this game, Love this team.

Question

Jan. 3rd, 2007 09:47 am
Does anyone know if there is a way to filter the things I read on my Friend's list? I find that so many of the communities I belong to overwhelm things sometimes that I often miss out on the things my 'real' friends post. Is there any way to seperate communities from actual friends?

Hope you all had a wonderful and safe evening!!!
We spent our first New Year's Eve alone in 20 years! Inna had to work, bartending her first New Year's Eve (which should be full of interesting stories) and Lou went to her first New Year's party. (only 3 of them, but still, a big step.) My contribution to Lou's party was two bottles of sparkling apple juice, fancy plastic champagne flutes to drink that out of, and a bag of assorted hats, noisemakers and various New Year's swag. I'm sure I'll hear about that too.
So, facing an empty house, the hubby realized that while we had appys to nibble on through the night, we had no sweets and not so much in the way of alcohol. Off we buzzed to the store and grabbed a wee chocolate cake, a wee orange creamsicle cake (which is WOW) and a couple mini pies. Then over to the liquor store, where we bought a couple more bottles of wine. We got home and settled in to watch movies all night. (Woo hoo, the excitement! Lol) Hubby likes the chick flicks, but I prefer action, so I won and we watched the Bourne Identity (which we'd seen eons ago) and the Bourne Supremacy (which we've never seen). Awesome films, although the second had its choppily directed moments that annoyed me. We then followed with his choice, Elizabethtown. Which was sweet, but as he put it, not quite as gripping. Lol. We paused at midnight to watch the local countdown (okay, from Seattle, but it was the closest) and then carried on until oneish, when we stumbled off to bed. The wines we tasted were a zinfandel, a sangria and a blackberry. The blackberry was lovely, I'll buy it again. The other two were also good, but a tiny bit remains of them, so I guess blackberry won. Lol.
All in all a nice evening.
Hope you all had a nice night, and may your new year be filled with love and laughter.
Ciao bellas.

This year is coming to an end...so as a comment on my page, leave one memory
that you and I had together, it doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot,
anything you remember. Next, re-post this and see how many people leave a memory
about you. I'll respond with mine of you. It's actually pretty cool (and fun) to
see the responses. Anything goes!

Since I'll be busy for most of the next couple of days:

Hope it's a wonderful time for you all.

Phew!

Well, finally a day off!! I've been busier than a beaver in a rocking chair factory! Lol, I have no idea why that even seemed appropriate. Anyhow, it's been busy. Between working much longer hours and extra shifts and all the power outages and general season induced insanity, seems like I've been unable to do much more than try to read and catch up on everyone. Hope you're all doing alright and are ready for the major HO HO-ing that is imminent.
Today is my last day off before Xmas Eve day, so I have to get my ass in gear to buy groceries enough to get us through. At least I don't have to make dinner, this year my sister is kindly hosting us all. It's a very small group, since a lot of us either live elsewhere or are travelling elsewhere, but still - free turkey!!! And all presents have been bought and cards have been mailed, so yay me! Lol.
I just wanted to say hi to all, and pass out some cyber Valium, and hope y'all are holding it together!
Hopefully I can post more when I'm actually caught up and have a free moment. I'll pencil it in for mid January....lol!
*hugs everyone*
Happy Holidays Everyone!!!
Although I'm glad it's not snowing, I still wish it was not howling outside. It's dark and grey and galeforce winds, as per usual. Ah well.
On the plus side, I've gotten all my cards done and showered and have laundry going and it's barely 10 am. Yay! Go me!!
Again, if you've moved in the past year - please send me your new address. I think I caught up with everyone, but if you don't recall sending me that kind of info, well - you need to!! Now I'm going to sort through all the goodies I've accumulated over the year, see what goes where, and see if I need any more things. Tonight we have an extra 10% off at work, so that' s awesome.
I guess I have to go in eventually - especially since I go back to work tomorrow. Lol. I'm dreading it so much, and looking forward to it as well. I wish I could win the lotto so I didn't need to work ever again. AND could go live in Florida part of the year.
I also wish I didn't want so many things I can't have...lol.
Anyhow, just came on to bitch, I guess.  Oh, and to show off my new icon. It's my niece's little girl, isn't she a doll?
Ciao bellas.

Today is a very grey day and it makes me feel like I've got a good case of the winter blahs. Plus I had the weirdest dream, and it left me feeling unsettled. I hate that.  Oh well. In search of inspiration, I found this, and it at least made me feel a bit better, so I thought I'd share it.

Dear Lord,
Give me a few friends who will love me for what I am,
and keep ever burning before my vagrant steps the kindly light of hope...
And though I come not within sight of the castle of my dreams,
teach me to be thankful for life,
and for time's olden memories that are good and sweet.
And may the evening's twilight find me gentle still.

Hey all.

Last year I wasn't in a great place, so my card sending and even gift giving was less than stellar. But this year, I'm determined to TRY to do better. Yes, I know, we all know how well I do even when I try, but  oh well. Lol.
So if you've moved in the past couple of years, definitely since last year, please send me your new address. Or if you and I have only gotten to know each other in the past year, please do so. I'd appreciate it.  Or heck, if you just like cards with exotic stamps from a foreign country....(hey! We count!!)
I've screened comments so you can reply and no one will know but me!! bwahahaha...

I'm here to shamelessly promote Darren Haye's myspace site. Mostly cuz he wants me to. Lol.
 http://www.myspace.com/darrenhayesofficialmusic
If you don't know who Darren is, he's formerly of Savage Garden, you know - the truly, madly, deeply dude. He's the voice, the face, the talent - at least in my opinion. His blogs feature a tendency to record videos when he's very tired, which generally result in absolute hysterics. More than once listening to him ramble and giggle has brightened a day for me. He's truly a lovely human being, and his voice is pure and beautiful. If that isn't enough to swing you his way, he's the dude I'm always quoting - you know, the one who writes about sex like NO ONE on earth. Truly. Give him a listen, I promise you will never be disappointed.
He also has a lovely website just chock full of the perfect Christmas gifts for any of his fans. (hint, hint - *coughDVDScough*)
Take a minute, check him out, spread the word. Trust me. ;o)

...and I don't mean the hockey team...lol.

People magazine recently released their list of this year's Sexiest Men Alive. In turn, the Calgary Sun created their own list of the Sexiest Canadian Men Alive.

The man any woman would want to be more than Just Friends with, Ryan Reynolds, topped the list for all 6'3" of his hunkiness. "There is nothing sexier than a guy with a six-pack who can make you laugh," journalist Tara Merrin wrote.

Runner-up was Breaker High geek turned The Notebook hottie Ryan Gosling whose latest role in Half Nelson is already garnering Oscar buzz. A close third is another Oscar-buzzing star, Adam Beach, who stars in the war epic Flags of Our Fathers and made the list because of his "excellent physique and sexy smile."

In fourth was Halle Berry's beautiful beau, Gabriel Aubry, who is one of Canada's hottest models. Rounding out the top five is 24 star Kiefer Sutherland who's been on our radar for about two decades.

Ahhh...our two Ryans. Yum.

Lmao

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last Monday I ruled Iran as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). In June I gave [livejournal.com profile] kicksav29 a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points). In February I signed my organ donor card (28 points). Last Tuesday I turned [livejournal.com profile] satsuma77 in for eating carbs (3 points). Last month I didn't flush (-1 points).

Overall, I've been nice (780 points). For Christmas I deserve an Easy-Bake Oven!

Sincerely,
jcsrose

You know, anyone who's been in a relationship needs time alone. Whether it's away from your kids, partner, spouse, best friend(s), whatever. There's always a point where you just need some space, some time to just be you. It gets hard in day to day life to find moments like that. Now, maybe not everyone needs this, but I think 98% of us do. Just remember, if someone says they want to do something without you, it doesn't mean they love you less, or need you less. It just means they need a moment to breathe and try to remember who they are or were before life reached the point its at right now. It's cool to sometimes just be left alone, even if you spend some of that time being lonely.

Brought to you by the 'Buy Pink's new album' committee. Lol. Seriously. It's good.
